High Touch Areas – Now equipped with self-cleaning surfaces and sprays
A convention center is a building designed for PEOPLE. In particular, the design of each building is heavily constructed on the ability to efficiently move people from space to space. Entrances, exits, escalators and elevators.
In the wake of COVID-19, our team at Saint Paul RiverCentre looked closely at all these facets of our venue design and realized they all had one thing in common – HIGH TOUCH AREAS. The thought of keeping every high touch point of contact clean at all times was frankly overwhelming. But that all changed when we learned about a product the Mayo Clinic had been using on their high touch areas.
This game changer product is called NanoSeptic. Powered by light, NanoSeptic surfaces utilize mineral non-crystals which create a powerful oxidation reaction. The surface continually oxidizes organic contaminants, creating an ongoing self-cleaning cycle. No poisons, heavy metals or chemicals used. Each adhesive surface lasts about four months.
For high touch surfaces that aren’t covered with NanoSeptic skins or sanitized with a UV-C light, the Saint Paul RiverCentre team uses another new product called Novalent AM RTU. Novalent is a liquid anti-microbial product that is sprayed on high touch surfaces to help prevent bacteria/microorganisms from adhering to the surface. Novalent inhibits microbial growth for up to 90 days.
Why are these products game changers? Suddenly, it means 24/7 cleaning of our high touch surfaces is now actually possible. It means giving our operations team more time to focus cleaning efforts elsewhere. It means more confidence for our guests and employees. It means a healthier and safer environment.
Today, guests will see these products front of house on our door handles, elevator buttons and railings. Employees will see these stickers back of house in breakrooms, on freight cart handles and on time clocks. Another example of revolutionary technology helping to enrich the health of our venue and its operation for years to come.
