Minnesota Roller Derby
Minnesota Roller Derby
Event Info
It’s time to return to the track with Minnesota Roller Derby (MNRD). This year the league celebrates its twentieth season of playing hard-hitting, fast-paced games for fans and skaters everywhere. Join them on Saturday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m. in The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium. The Wednesday Warnings will go head-to-head against the Bodies of Water in the first game, followed by a battle between the Roller Vortex and the Maul Rats.
Last season, MNRD debuted all new teams and redrafted skaters for the first time since 2004. Long-time fans will recognize some of their favorite skaters and get to know many new skaters—all ready to make their mark.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Come early to watch a brief demonstration of roller derby rules, drop by concessions, and meet skaters before the first whistle blows. At halftime, make your way to the track for a dance party and shop the merchandise table for clothes and accessories representing your favorite team. After the bout, hang out with the skaters at Camp Bar and Cabaret in St. Paul at the official MNRD after-party.
ABOUT MNRD: Minnesota Roller Derby (MNRD) is a six-team flat track roller derby league committed to empowering women, non-binary and gender-expansive folks. Originally founded as Minnesota RollerGirls on August 31, 2004 by the Donnelly sisters, Minnesota Roller Derby is a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Every Minnesota Roller Derby skater is held to the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethics, and good will and must adhere to rules set by the league and by WFTDA. MNRD is governed by the skaters, for the skaters. Skaters are not paid, and a portion of proceeds raised by the league is donated to local charities.
