Event Info
Step right up, roller derby fans! On Saturday, March 29, Minnesota Roller Derby is bringing a spectacular circus of mayhem to Roy Wilkins Auditorium for its Season 21 championship games: Cirque du Derby.
In the first game of the night, the Bodies of Water and the Maul Rats will fight for third place in a showdown full of thrills and chills. Then the battle for the Golden Skate is ON as the Wednesday Warnings take on the Roller Vortex for derby glory. There won’t be lions or acrobats, but there will be chaos, jaw-dropping action, and plenty of popcorn!
Minnesota Roller Derby is also featuring one of its community partners, Wakan Tipi Awanyankapi, a Dakota-led, Native-run East Side environmental stewardship nonprofit. This organization engages people to honor and care for their natural places and the sacred sites and cultural value within them.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and the first whistle blows at 6 p.m. Come early to watch a brief demonstration of roller derby rules, drop by concessions, and meet skaters before the first whistle blows. At halftime, make your way to the track for a dance party and shop the merchandise table for clothes and accessories representing your favorite team. After the bout, hang out with the skaters at Camp Bar and Cabaret in Saint Paul at the official MNRD after-party.
